In Afan Oromo language, Nano Challa means “best location” and is an attempt of the cooperative to showcase their unique terroir. The cooperative is now composed of 350 farmers and growing. They now opened a second washing station a few hundred meters away from the first one due their success and have been housing more and more farmers under their wing making the impact that this cooperative has on the village quite significant.
We sat with farmers on our last visit where they proudly shared with us all of the trophies and certificates of excellence they have been gathering over the years from producing some the best coffees in the world.
Currently, we stock some of their best washed coffees.
Cocoa butter, jasmine, apple molasses
$17.00 – $32.00
Nano Challa is not a new cooperative for us, last crop year we choose to buy the natrual process of this cooperative because the washed was all sold out! This year, we managed to get our hands on a few fully washed bags direct trade from their site 1 washing station.
This is one of our best Ethiopian direct trade coffee from Gera. Roasted and served in Ras Beirut, you can experience notes of papaya, candied orange, and a black tea like body when sipping on it. As bountiful on V60 as it is on espresso or any other method.
